The Vermilion County Farm Bureau and Vermilion County Soil and Water Conservation District will be co-hosting a meeting Thursday (January 9, 2020) on the Lake Vermilion watershed. Tom Fricke, Public Information Spokesman for the Farm Bureau, notes the Lake Vermilion watershed spreads over a wide area….
{‘’It goes, of course, from Lake Vermilion to the north and takes in all of the watershed of the North Fork of the Vermilion River, which runs up towards Bismarck (and) Rossville,’’ said Fricke. ‘’The watershed and its tributaries actually start over in Indiana, as well as a little bit of the southeastern corner of Iroquois County.’’}
Thursday’s meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Vermilion County Farm Bureau, located along U.S. route 150 near Henning Road, west of Danville. Landowners and farmers who have property in the watershed area are particularly invited to attend. The meeting is being co-hosted by Aqua Illinois Water Company, Illinois Farm Bureau, and Illinois Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy. The discussion is expected to focus on an update of the 2008 plan for the Lake Vermilion Watershed.
