Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup has released the names of two men who died from injuries in a crash along Interstate 74 Wednesday night. The Coroner says the victims are Rodney Young, 37, and Shawntez L. Young, 46, both of Champaign. Rodney Young was reportedly ejected from the vehicle during the rollover accident which occurred at the 183 mile marker in Champaign-Urbana.
Illinois State Police say there were four men in the 2017 Jaguar SUV when the vehicle’s driver, 36-year-old Marazette D. Young of Champaign, lost control for some unknown reason. The westbound vehicle went into a ditch and overturned shortly before 8:30 p.m.
Marazette Young, who was the driver, and another 37-year-old male passenger from Champaign, were taken to Carle Hospital with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by Illinois State Police and the Champaign County Coroner’s office.
