Danville Area Community College trustees are moving forward with plans to renovate Dr. Alice Marie Jacobs Hall/Carnegie Library. College trustees have selected Walton and Associates Architects to develop detailed construction drawings for the project. DACC president Stephen Nacco also announced at a board meeting Thursday night (January 23, 2020) that the project is now estimated to cost around $2 million instead of the $2.2 million originally thought.
Vice President of Administrative Services Mike Cunningham said the building’s exterior and interior arch design will not be changed, other than an outside ramp being added. He also said new walls will be built with air conditioning and insulation.
A gift of $2-million dollars promised through the Julius W. Hegeler II Foundation will pay for the renovation. The College plans to use the building to help boost student enrollment in fine arts programs and increase student participation in musical and theatrical clubs.
