Although they are only in elementary school, some students in Danville heard Monday about career opportunities in health care. Dr. Nicole Carter, a nursing instructor at Danville Area Community College, was particularly focusing on opportunities and challenges in health care for African Americans.
Carter hopes the students remember her message….
{‘’Look toward the future because they’re going to be the ones who are going to be moving, and growing, as they see changes happening in the health care community. They may be ones who grow-up and say ‘You know what? I’m going to be that doctor, or I’m going to be that nurse who’s going to’ – maybe they have a creative idea that changes the way health care is given and delivered,’’ said Dr. Carter during an interview with VermilionCountyFirst.com News.}

Carter spoke to the kids in the Student Union at Danville Area Community College. It was many of those same Meade Park students who created a video about the positive things about Danville and Vermilion County. Their video – which was shown in the DACC Student Union Monday – was an attempt to counter some of the negative publicity about Danville.
Dr. Carter’s presentation Monday was part of DACC’s observance of Black History Month.
