The National Weather Service says a Winter Weather Advisory for our area will run from midnight to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday. (February 26, 2020). An inch or two of snow was forecast overnight….then more light snow is expected Wednesday before tapering off late in the day. Total snow accumulation in the Danville – Vermilion County area — is expected to be around two to four inches. Some areas, though, could see more.
Motorists should plan on slippery road conditions on Wednesday. Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions for Illinois can be obtained on the web at www.gettingaroundillinois.com.
The Winter Weather Advisory includes not only Vermilion County, but also Champaign, De Witt, Piatt and Macon counties.
In northern Illinois, including much of the Chicago area, up to six inches of snow is expected, and some areas could see more. And gusty winds will cause blowing and drifting of snow.
The National Weather Service at Indianapolis has posted a Winter Storm Watch for counties in west-central Indiana. Snow is expected to accumulate 3 to 5 inches in that area by Wednesday night. The highest snowfall totals are expected near and north of a Crawfordsville to Muncie, Indiana line. Citizens should monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this storm system.
