Paramore singer Hayley Williams has announced her first-ever solo tour in support of her debut solo album, Petals For Armor. Williams will start her run in mid-May in Europe, followed by a North American tour kicking off on May 28th in Seattle, Washington. The trek will close out month later on June 29th in Nashville.
Williams wrote about the tour, “Wow. I am going on tour. Myself. It’s not Paramore and truthfully, it’s just a little terrifying. But if I know anything, it’s that there’s no safer place (besides at home with my dog) than to be in a room, on a stage, in front of the people who I’ve grown up singing my lungs out for. There was a time I thought I wouldn’t tour Petals For Armor. What a joke. I must.”
Williams noted that the shows will be more intimate than those she's played for years with Paramore, saying, “My brand-newly-formed band and I will be playing rooms that Paramore outgrew a decade ago. It’s going to be so satisfying to feel the energy of a crowd that close again, especially while performing songs that feel so vital for me.”
We asked Williams a while back how she prepares for a show: “The thing that I think about the most is what I'm gonna say. But no matter how much I prepare for it, I still kind of, I don't know if you could really call it screw it up. But it changes every night, 'cause I try not to plan it out too much, but I get nervous about it, so I definitely put a lot of thought into it. That's the main thing I think about. As far as just running around and looking like a fool, that's not really hard (laughs).”
Petals For Armor is due out May 8th. Williams has already shared five songs from the disc to form an EP called Petals For Armor 1.
