The Peoria Diocese has announced all Catholic Schools in the Diocese will be closed next week (from Monday, March 16th through 20th, 2020) because of concerns over the COVID-19 virus. Schools will be cleaned and disinfected during the period.
In addition, Bishop Daniel Jenky is suspending, for the time being, the obligation to participate in Sunday Mass. And he is strongly urging those over 60 years old not to attend Mass or other religious services. It is because seniors are particularly vulnerable to catching the Corona Virus.
Bishop Jenky says those with communicable diseases should stay home. And he adds parishioners should not shake hands or hug at the Kiss of Peace. Instead, he suggests you wave or give a friendly smile.
