Trapt frontman Chris Taylor Brown went into a Twitter meltdown over the past week as he attempted to defend Donald Trump's response to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. Brown's comments — estimated at 900 over 48 hours — became increasingly unhinged as he argued with other users and made comments that some deemed racist and xenophobic.
It all started on Monday (March 16th) when Brown seemingly attacked civil rights activist Talbert Swan and Captain America actor Steve Rogers due to their critical remarks over Trump's handling of the crisis. He accused Swan of having a “victim mentality.”
Brown continued to go at it as one user accused the band of being “ignorant, obtuse, racist, white supremacists.” After that, the musician described the benefits he's reaped during Trump's term and supported the former reality TV host calling COVID-19 a “Chinese virus.”
When detractors went after Trapt's music, Brown claimed that his outfit has higher streaming numbers than Hoobastank. After praising Nickelback, the musician told another user he'd “make more money on any given weekend than you will make all year.”
Trapt, which formed in the Bay Area in the mid-90s, is best known for its 2002 hits “Headstrong” and “Still Frame.”
