The Danville Dashers were preparing for their biggest night of the year, their “Dashers Fight Cancer” night. It was to be held as part of a 3-game series at the Palmer Arena the weekend of March 13-15. Then the onset of the cancellations and postponments of sporting events everywhere began, including all games in the FPHL, which included all Dashers games.
Part of “Dashers Fight Cancer” night is a charity auction for the American Cancer Society where fans could bid on the jerseys that the players wore that night, and get them right off their backs.
Danville Dashers General Manager, Diane Short said, “It was such a disappointment for everyone when our season got cancelled. Our Dashers Fight Cancer was that weekend, it is always an important night to the players and staff. Cancer has touched all of us in one way or another and on our Dashers Fight Cancer night we come out swinging. The players, staff and volunteers work so hard for our charities and to make it a magical night for everyone. However, you know the old saying, “the show much go on”. So, even though we did not get to wear these awesome jerseys they are up for auction on Livesource.”
Since the game was never played, and even though the players never actually wore the jerseys, the Dashers are moving the auction online. To participate, download the Livesource app on your smartphone, tap on Danville, IL, and it takes you right to the auction. Bidding will be open through 4pm on March 30, 2020, with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.
