The Vermilion County Health Department reports there have been no cases of COVID-19 coronavirus confirmed in the county so far. (As of 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2020).
County Health Department Administrator Douglas Toole says 52 samples from Vermilion County have been sent to the state lab for testing. Forty-two of those proved to be negative. Toole said the County Health Department was still awaiting the test results on the other ten cases that were submitted to the lab.
And Toole also noted that going forward the number of positive cases will be known, but it will be more difficult to grasp the number of total tests. He says that is because some commercial labs are coming online to help.
Statewide 250 new cases were reported by the Illinois Department of Public Health on Tuesday (March 24, 2020). And the number of deaths linked to the COVID 19 coronavirus rose by 4 and now stands at 16 in Illinois.
