The number of positive COVID-19 coronavirus cases in our region continues to rise. The Illinois Department of Public Health reports cases doubled in Champaign County from Tuesday to Wednesday’s report. Besides the eight Champaign County cases, a positive case of the virus has also been confirmed in Douglas County.
In western Indiana there have been two cases of COVID-19 confirmed. The Fountain-Warren County Health Department reports one of those cases is in Warren County and the other in Fountain County.
No cases have been confirmed in Vermilion County (Illinois), but Vermilion County Health Department Administrator Doug Toole said Wednesday that 52 suspected cases had been sent to the state lab for testing. Forty-two of those proved to be negative and the County Health Department was still awaiting results on the other ten.
