A 24-year-old Danville man was arrested following a police chase on the city’s east side Monday (March 30, 2020). A Danville Police officer was on patrol Monday afternoon when a person reported a motorist pointed a gun at him and started following him while threatening to shoot him.
Police pursued the suspect’s vehicle from the area of Collett and East Main to Southgate Drive and Vine Street where the suspect was arrested. Police say the driver was 24-year-old Eric D. Clark of Danville who was charged with aggravated fleeing. Police say Clark was also wanted on an outstanding Vermilion County warrant for failure to appear.
Officers were unable to locate a firearm when Clark was taken into custody. However, police say a concerned citizen reported finding a firearm lying in the road on Southgate Drive. Police are still trying to determine whether the gun has anything to do with this case.
