Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, Green Day singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and Billie Eilish were among the musical stars who delivered performances from their living rooms on Sunday night's (March 29th) “iHeart Living Room Concert for America” on Fox.
Grohl delivered a rendition of Foo Fighters’ “My Hero,” Eilish and her brother Finneas teamed up for her hit “Bad Guy” and Armstrong performed Green Day's classic “Boulevard Of Broken Dreams.” Other artists who performed or appeared during the commercial-free broadcast included Mariah Carey, Camila Cabello. Shawn Mendes, Sam Smith, Lady Gaga and Lizzo.
Grohl told us not long ago why it's important for the band to be engaged with what's happening in the world: “Before we were ever in this band, we were American citizens, we were human beings, and there's some things that are important to us outside of the band, like the future of the country and the future of the environment and the world that our children have to live in in 15 or 20 years. And it's our responsibility to do what we can to try to better that.”
The Elton John-hosted event was dedicated to the doctors, nurses, scientists, first responders, and volunteers battling the COVID-19 outbreak.
Elton kicked things off with a short speech about the purpose of the concert, saying, “Let me tell you what’s going to keep us together: all the goodness that’s happening in the world. There’s doctors, nurses and scientists on the front lines. They’re living proof that most superheroes don’t wear capes.”
