CHANGESNOWBOWIE, a nine-track album, recorded for radio and broadcast by the BBC on David Bowie‘s 50th birthday on January 8th, 1997 will be available for streaming on April 17th — the original date set for Record Store Day. Set for physical release on the rescheduled date of June 20th, is the original broadcast featuring an interview with Bowie interspersed with specially recorded birthday messages and questions from such friends and fans as Bono, the Cure's Robert Smith, Blur's Damon Albarn, and the Walker Brothers' Scott Walker.
This primarily acoustic radio session was recorded and mixed in November 1996 at Manhattan's Looking Glass Studios, with backing by Gail Ann Dorsey on bass and vocals, Reeves Gabrels on guitars and vocals, and Mark Plati on keyboards and programming. The sessions were produced by Bowie, Gabrels, and Plati.
According to the press release “On April 10, the previously rare 'Repitition '97' video filmed at the Earthling tour rehearsals in Hartford, Connecticut by Tim Pope will be made available for streaming and download. The audio version of the track will also available to stream on the same date.”

Around the time of the radio session for CHANGESNOWBOWIE, David Bowie admitted to us that, like a lot of performers, he sometimes had trouble remembering the lyrics to all his songs, but, unlike most of his peers, he never felt comfortable using a teleprompter: “It doesn't feel right. I take a music stand out with me, and it's almost like a superstition now, 'cause if I don't have the music stand out there and the book of my lyrics on it, I fear that I won't remember them. But if I've got the book there, I don't often have to refer to it. It's a peculiar thing.”
