The Danville Area Planning and Zoning Commission has approved rezoning and the semi-final plat for the Carle at the Riverfront project. The Commission also approved a variance regarding parking for a new Dollar General Store at the southeast corner of Bowman and Crestview, and a zoning change for professional office space at 200 West Williams.
All of the petitions were approved last evening (Thursday, April 2, 2020) in a meeting that took place over the phone because of the COVID-19 threat.
The Danville City Council is scheduled to vote on the Commission’s recommendations when it meets April 21st.
Planning and Zoning Commission member Ted Vacketta said he wants to make sure the Carle project allows access to the west side of the Vermilion County Museum for maintenance purposes. Carle plans to place a plaza in that area as part of its $70-million dollar Carle at the Riverfront development.
The Commission approved Carle’s re-zoning and semi-final plat requests, but with the stipulation that an agreement be worked out with the museum for the access.
Carle says its goal is still to begin construction this summer or fall on the project that will see existing Carle facilities in Danville relocate to the new site. They include Carle’s medical offices on North Vermilion and West Fairchild Street and the Carle Ambulance service.
