Illinois has surpassed 10,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19. In Saturday’s state update, Illinois Director of Public Health Dr. Ngozi Ezike announced 1,453 new cases for a total of 10,357. With 33 additional deaths, the state has reported 243 deaths connected to COVID-19 cases. Jasper, Lee, Mason and Pike counties reported their first cases to increase the number of Illinois counties confirmed to have COVID-19 at 68.
Several cities are offering assistance finding food, paying housing bills, accessing free childcare and other essential service by calling 211 or 1-888-865-9903. The number is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Information is also available at www.211.org.
