A Danville man is facing charges of arson after he allegedly started a fire inside a parked vehicle at a gas station Wednesday. Police located and arrested 39-year-old Shane A. Wombles after they found him walking in the area of the incident.
Danville Police say an employee at the Circle K Gas Station in the 1200 block of Bowman Avenue had been alerted that her car was on fire on the station’s parking lot. The victim was able to remove the burning items from her vehicle and smother the flames.
Police reviewed the gas station’s surveillance video, which they say showed the suspect getting into the vehicle, and then flames coming from it as the suspect walked away.
In addition to arson, Wombles was also being held on criminal trespass to vehicle charges. The employee’s vehicle suffered minor damage and there were no injuries.
