Members of the board of the David S. Palmer Arena have scheduled a special meeting Wednesday afternoon (April 15, 2020) to discuss and possibly vote on the Danville Dashers’ contract. Also on the agenda is a discussion and possible vote on opening negotiations with qualified individuals on the rental of the Arena for professional hockey in the 2020-2021 season.
In a message sent to the Arena Board in behalf of Danville Dashers owner Barry Soskin, the board was reminded the Dashers have been at the David S. Palmer Arena for nine seasons and have honored every contract and paid every bill for all nine years.
Soskin’s business partner, Cary Ross, said in the message sent to the board: ‘’Although we are facing some very unusual times dealing with the Covid-19 virus pandemic, the Dashers hoped to renegotiate their contract in good faith as they have done with the previous four contracts with the David S. Palmer Arena and return to skate the 2020-2021 hockey season in Danville.
The special board meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday (April 15, 2020) by videoconference. Anyone who would like to address the board may do so by emailing comments to: Palmerarenacomments@yahoo.com. The board is asking that comments be limited to two minutes. And the deadline for registering to speak and for comments for the meeting is Wednesday (April 15th) at 3:00 p.m.
