Demolition work is scheduled to get underway Wednesday (April 15, 2020) on the former Harwal Hotel in downtown Danville. The building at 101 West Harrison Street has been vacant for years and is now owned by the city. The demolition work is contingent upon weather conditions. During the work the intersection of Walnut and Harrison Streets will be closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Access to all businesses in the area will remain open, however.
The work will be occurring between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. each day. The demolition work is expected to be completed by April 30th.
Due to the heavy volume of construction traffic expected in that area both motorists and pedestrians are being asked to avoid the area.
