The Eastern Illinois Foodbank says it will be distributing more food to area families struggling with food insecurity. The drive-through distribution will be held Saturday, April 18th, from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. at 1803 Georgetown Road in Tilton (across from Casey’s).
All Vermilion County residents will be able to get free food if they meet certain income guidelines. A single person can receive up to $1,926 a month and still qualify for food. A two-person household can receive up to $2,607 a month. A three-member household can get up to $3,289….and a four person household up to $3,970 a month and still qualify for the food. If there are five people living in a home the maximum allowable income is $4,652 a month, and a six-member household can receive up to $5,333 a month and still qualify for the free food.
The distribution is part of the Eastern Illinois Foodbank’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to bring supplemental food to areas of chronic or extreme need. In compliance with CDC guidelines, clients will remain in their vehicle and boxes of food will be loaded by volunteers. Those getting the food should clear a space in their trunk or back seat prior to arriving at the distribution center.
The Village of Tilton and Autumn Fields helped secure the location for the distribution.
