The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,197 new COVID-19 cases in Sunday’s update with 33 additional deaths. The state has confirmed 30,357 cases including 1,290 deaths in 93 counties.
As Governor JB Pritzker gave his daily briefing in Chicago, about 75 people gathered in front of the state capitol in Springfield to protest his stay-at-home restrictions. Two vehicles blocked the intersection in front of the state capitol and several protesters were removed from the walkway. No arrests were made. Pritzker again answered those protesting his stay-at-home order, saying he is looking at many ways to open activities while keeping people safe, and that he wants that to occur as quickly as possible.
