Danville School Superintendent Alicia Geddis says she is saddened by the reality the school community will not be able to reconvene in person this school year. And the District 118 Superintendent says Friday’s announcement by Governor JB Pritzker that schools will not re-open this school year may seem like a step backwards. But in a letter sent to parents, Dr. Geddis added ‘’the final chapter of this school year hasn’t been written yet.’’
‘’These past few weeks have proven our school community is more resilient, more capable and more compassionate than maybe what we previously realized. I’m confident our collective strength will shine through during the remainder of the school year, and we will emerge even stronger,’’ added the Danville Superintendent.

Geddis says it will take a few days to sort out many details regarding the end of the school year – including promotion, graduation and centralized registration. And she asked parents to be patient as the district works to get more information in the coming weeks.
The food distribution program which has been done on Tuesday morning’s at Danville High School will continue. And Dr. Geddis says the Illinois State Board of Education has also given the district the ability to continue its McDonald’s Pilot Food Program.
District 118 also began providing Chromebooks to students who attend North Ridge Middle School and Danville High School. And Dr. Geddis adds the school district will continue to expand the access as technology becomes available. The district is continuing its Remote Learning Program and providing support from social workers and school counselors, Dr. Geddis told parents in the letter.
