The President of OSF HealthCare hospitals in Danville and Urbana says the prayers and other support from the community during the COVID-19 pandemic are greatly appreciated. Dr. Jared Rogers leads OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville and OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana.
‘’Things are different – but we’re hanging in there,’’ said Dr. Rogers on WDAN Radio’s Newsmakers program Monday, when asked how the staff is holding up….
{‘’Those who are potentially dealing with patients afflicted by this on a personal level have the anxieties we all have – plus the fact that they’re right there in the face of this illness,’’ said Rogers.}
Rogers said both the Urbana and Danville hospitals have received tremendous support during the on-going pandemic….
{‘’Donations of things, you know, that are just good to have – food and treats – but also personal protective equipment. We’ve had donations of N-95 masks from sources we never even considered had N-95 masks, and people donating them by the hundreds. And all kinds of other personal protective equipment,’’ added Rogers. ‘’The outpouring of generosity and love from the community has been incredible.’’
Both visitors and volunteers have been restricted – for the most part — at both OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center and OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center for weeks. And those restrictions remain in place.
And how does Dr. Rogers expect the hospitals will eventually start to get back to normal?
{‘’I think that it will be gradual and incremental – more than saying at some point ‘O.K., we can go back to normal.’ I don’t think that’s going to happen. I think that we’ll have to follow the lead of the experts in the world and our country, and make sure that their guidance is followed, and that we’re doing things that will keep us safe,’’ added Rogers.}
