Mayor Rickey Williams says he received a telephone call from Governor JB Pritzker Friday night wanting to know how Danville is faring during the pandemic. The mayor used the occasion to ask the governor if he could get the Illinois Gaming Board to act on the license request for Danville’s proposed casino…
Governor Pritzker told Mayor Williams he has no control over actions of the Illinois Gaming Board. But he also assured the mayor that he would follow-up on the request.
The Gaming Board had a meeting scheduled today (Tuesday), but it was postponed because of the on-going COVID-19 health emergency.
Haven Gaming, LLC earlier announced plans for a 53,500 square foot pre-engineered casino gaming floor that would form the core of the permanent casino and resort. Also included in phase one at the site south of Interstate 74 at Lynch Road is a 200 seat buffet and trendy Chicago style deli and 1100 surface parking spaces.
Haven Gaming is also proposing a 150 room luxury boutique hotel – including 15 suites – a sports betting arena and a convention center along with a corridor of celebrity restaurants and 1500 seat entertainment venue. The plans were announced last summer. The phase one estimated cost was estimated at over $118-million dollars.
