The National Day of Prayer Thursday (May 7, 2020) found some people at a Danville church reaching out to help others. Volunteers and members of the congregation at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church spent the morning loading food from the church’s food bank into vehicles of those who stopped by needing assistance.
Food Pantry director Leroy Carter describes items that were being given away….
{”Frozen eggs, milk, apples, ham, turkey, and canned goods.”}
Carter says food is passed out at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church every Thursday morning between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m., but people are asked to only come every other week. He says the system has worked well…
{”It’s real good. It’s something that everybody volunteered to do, and its working out real good because you got people out there that needs food. Yow, you’ve got people that need food.”}
The church gets food from the Eastern Illinois Food Bank and also purchases some through Midwest Food in Bloomington. Carter says anyone in Vermilion County who is in need of food is welcome to stop by during the weekly distributions.
