This year’s Arts in the Park in Danville has been cancelled. Members of the Board of Directors announced their decision last night.
‘’It is certainly with heavy hearts that we have chosen to make this difficult decision,’’ said Arts in the Park Board President Amy Thompson. She noted the COVID-19 virus has changed our lives, our outlooks and our concerns for friends, families and businesses.
Planning for Arts in the Park takes the time and effort of many devoted volunteers, noted Thompson. She added unfortunately the dates of June 27th and 28th are approaching quickly. ‘’We are not able to, nor are we willing to ask sponsors, donors, artists and our community in general to make financial commitments under the current circumstances,’’ added Thompson.
This would have been the 32nd year for the event at Danville’s Lincoln Park. Thompson says it has been made possible each year by the dozens of generous sponsors and donors. And she added the Board of Directors remains fully committed to seeing everyone at next year’s Arts in the Park.
