The Vermilion County Health Department has announced Monday (May 11, 2020) that three additional positive cases of COVID-19 coronavirus have been confirmed in the county. Health Department Administrator Douglas Toole says all three are in their twenties but no strong connections have been found between them.
It brings to 31 the total number of positive cases countywide since the counting began earlier this spring. The County Health Department also says 1,075 people have tested negative for the virus.
Of the 31 cases which have been confirmed in Vermilion County, 9 have been released from isolation and 20 are on home isolation. One is hospitalized and the other died (which was announced earlier).
Nearly 55-percent of those diagnosed with COVID-19 this year in Vermilion County are females and 45 percent are males. Twenty-one of the 31 people who have been confirmed with the virus in Vermilion County this year range in age from zero to 39. Information released by the Vermilion County Health Department also shows nearly 39-percent of those found to have COVID-19 in the county are Black, 48-percent are White, and nearly 13-percent are Hispanic.
