Asking Alexandria has shared a new song called “House On Fire” along with an accompanying video shot while the band stays in lockdown.
The track is the fifth to be released from the group's sixth studio album, Like A House On Fire, which is due out this Friday (May 15th). The current single, “Antisocialist,” is Number 10 on the rock radio chart, the fifth from the group to reach the Top 10.
Asked by Detroit radio station WRIF about releasing an album during the coronavirus pandemic, guitarist Ben Bruce said, “For starters, we were told by our distribution company to postpone the record because there's no physical product that's gonna be available. All the factories have slowed down or stopped production.”
Bruce added, “So I'm not too sure what to expect. I don't think we're gonna have the best first week and chart as high as we could have done, but it's not really our concern. We just wanna share the new album with our fans and get it out there.”
Bruce told us that Like A House On Fire is an especially meaningful album for him: “This is actually the first record I've ever written sober and at first I was super worried about it. I was like, 'Oh my god, what if, you know, that sad, sorry state of dark emotions I kept myself in through drug and alcohol abuse was what gave me the inspiration to write and my creativity, where it came from?' But all of my sort of fears were kind of washed away immediately.”
As with other bands, Asking Alexandria's tour plans are on hold for now, but the band intends to hit the road behind the new LP once it's deemed safe to do so.
