The Quaker Oats Company has announced its popular ‘Breakfast in the Park’ program will not be held in Danville this year. The program has been cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This would have been the 10th year for ‘Breakfast in the Park’ at Danville’s Lincoln Park. Each weekday morning Quaker volunteers and retirees from the Pepsico plant in Danville have served a free, nourishing breakfast to children in need. The breakfast has been combined with fun activities in the park after the children after they eat.

Quaker has served over 19,000 free breakfasts since the program began in 2011. The company noted that during the summer months when school is out, accessing meals can be challenging for children – especially during difficult economic times.
In addition to Quaker’s ‘Breakfast in the Park’ being cancelled this year, the City of Danville’s Community Day which had been scheduled for July 12th has also been cancelled for this year.
