Danville District 118 School Board members have voted to suspend some graduation requirements this year. It is being done due to the suspension of in-person instruction caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
School Board President Bill Dobbles explains….
{‘’The State has changed graduation requirements because we missed the whole fourth quarter. And so, instead of having like four years of English – they’ve got three-and-a-half. And then there are other cases where we have requirements that are greater than the state. But again with missing the whole fourth quarter, we’ve changed ours, too, so we’re just going with the state’s requirements,’’ said Dobbles.}
Seniors will not be required this year to take the SAT, government and Constitution exams. Other modifications being made by the state’s emergency modifications exempt seniors from taking physical education and a semester of health education.
Students who through no fault of their own were not able to complete certain graduation requirements because in-person instruction was suspended, will still be able to graduate.
