Danville High School will be honoring the Class of 2020, teachers, first responders, medical professionals, and other essential workers when the lights on Ned Whitesell Field are turned on for twenty minutes. The lights above the high school’s football field are going to symbolically be lights of hope during these difficult times.

The lights will be turned on from 8:00 until 8:20 p.m. on Friday, May 22nd, 2020. Danville residents and those living in surrounding communities are also being asked to turn their front porch lights from 8:00 until 8:20 that night (May 22nd). In order to honor shelter in place orders no access will be allowed to Ned Whitesell Field.
Earlier this week staff members and others placed small signs in front of the homes of DHS graduates congratulating them. DHS Principal Tracy Cherry posted a message this week. ‘’We’ve just started,’’ said Cherry. ‘’We want to continue to celebrate you in any way that we can because we know that this is difficult for you. And we are here for you and we just want to shower you with love and support these next few weeks,’’ added the DHS Principal.
