Danville’s Northeast Elementary Magnet School – which now operates on a balanced calendar – may see that change for the 2020-2021 school year.
School Board member Lon Henderson noted that with the COVID-19 pandemic there is still a lot of uncertainty about the next school year.
Although there are no final plans at this point, school board president Bill Dobbles says the board is reviewing what to do with Northeast…
{‘’Because of the coronavirus – and Northeast would start in the middle of July – there is a problem of getting them started. So probably we won’t have them start in July, but we’ll have them be on a traditional calendar for this next year only,’’ said Dobbles.}
The school board is also looking at possibly using a hybrid approach for registration for next year’s classes. A planned centralized registration at the Palmer Arena had to be cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic and work being done to replace ice at the arena.
The school board is now looking at doing online registration, plus possibly some face-to-face registration in the Danville High School fieldhouse during the first week of August.
