Beginning on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, motorists will be able to secure vehicle registration stickers again at the Illinois Secretary of State office in Tilton. Secretary of State Jesse White has announced seven facilities in Illinois will be offering drive-through service only for the purchase of vehicle registration stickers.
Secretary White says this is the first step in a comprehensive reopening plan that will be announced shortly. It will include the proper protections for customers and employees, such as PPE (personal protective equipment) and social distancing.
The Tilton facility was chosen as one of the first to reopen for drive-up registration sticker transactions because of the configuration of the building. All employees will wear face masks and customers are being asked to also wear masks.
The Illinois Secretary of State office in Tilton will be open for drive-through service for the purchase of vehicle registration stickers from 8:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday…on Wednesday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until noon.
White continues to encourage citizens to renew their vehicle registration stickers online at www.cyberdriveillinois.com for those customers who can do so.
The Secretary of State is also reminding Illinois motorists that all expiration dates for driver’s licenses, ID cards and vehicle registrations have been extended at least 90 days after Driver Services facilities reopen. Also the federal government has extended the REAL ID deadline by one year. The deadline is now October 1st, 2021.
