Danville City Council members have approved an intergovernmental agreement that could help with future development on the city’s east side. It involves a proposal for the Danville Sanitary District to design and construct an upgrade to a sanitary sewer line serving the area commonly known as the Eastgate Industrial Park. The City wants the line enlarged to encourage continued commercial and industrial development in the area located north of Interstate 74 to U.S. route 136. It is an area bounded by Brewer Road on the west and the Indiana State line on the east.
City Council members were told when the proposed new casino was looking for a site that the sanitary sewer line that serves the area north of the interstate in the Lynch Road area is already at its maximum capacity. In addition to all of the hotels and some industrial customers on that line, it also serves the Danville Correctional Center.
The estimated cost of the project is $1.2 million dollars of which the City is agreeing to pay half. The Sanitary District will be the project manager overseeing the design and construction. The Sanitary District will also be responsible for future maintenance of the line.
