The Vermilion County Health Department reported Friday that another case of COVID-19 coronavirus has been confirmed in the county. Three additional cases had been reported on Thursday. Health Department Administrator Douglas Toole announced Thursday (May 21, 2020) that the latest cases involve a person in their twenties, one in their forties, and the third person is in their fifties. He says the one confirmed Friday is another person in their twenties.
There have now been 38 cases of the virus confirmed in Vermilion County since statistics started being tracked earlier this year. Twenty-five of those people have been released from isolation and eleven are on home isolation according to Toole. One death has also occurred from the virus in Vermilion County. (It was reported earlier.)
Eleven of the Vermilion County cases involve people who are age 50 or above. The other 26 cases involved people ranging from zero to 49 years of age.
The Illinois Department of Public Health announced Thursday that another 2,268 cases of coronavirus disease have been confirmed in Illinois since Wednesday, including 87 additional deaths.
