A steady rain and the COVID-19 pandemic failed to deter a large crowd from gathering Monday for a Memorial Day observance in Westville. Dale Shannon of Post 51 of the Westville American Legion said those who paid the ultimate price should be thanked…..
{‘’We owe so much to these men and women who left their homes, left their families, and went off to war. They saw a greater need than themselves to serve – and serve they did. From the time of World War I to the present date there have been 668,000 plus men and women die in wars for this country,’’ said Shannon.
Shannon listed some of the many places where American servicemen and women have died for their country….

And Shannon reminded the crowd that those serving today need support….
{‘’May no service member go unloved. May no service member walk alone. May no service member be forgotten. May all service members come home,’’ said Shannon.
The Westville Memorial Day observance was complete with a fly-over by some vintage aircraft – including a by-plane.

The crowd was one of the largest that has attended the Westville event in recent years.
