The Danville Area Planning and Zoning Commission is meeting this evening (June 4, 2020) to consider a request for a Special Use Permit for a Medicinal/Adult Use Cannabis Cultivation Center. Alexander Real Properties, LLC is seeking the permit in order to place a cannabis cultivation center directly west of the Danville Correctional Center.
If approved, it would be a wholesale business craft grower small operation which would distribute its cannabis to only licensed dispensaries in Illinois.
In addition to the request for the Special Use Permit, the petitioner would also need the approval of the Illinois Department of Agriculture in a process that is described as very competitive.
The Danville Area Planning and Zoning Commission’s vote serves only as a recommendation to the Danville City Council. It will be up to the City Council to make the final decision on whether the Special Use Permit is approved.
Currently the 44.66 acres of land in the 3700 block of East Main Street in Danville is zoned I-2 General Industrial.
