Project Success Summer Programs are set to begin across Vermilion County next week. The 15 programs across the county have been creative in finding ways to continue their mission during the COVID-19 crisis. A few examples include e-learning and a drive-thru supply pick up with homemade cotton candy, art lessons, STEM experiments, fitness activities, and more.
All programs will kick-off virtually and will include academic lessons to prepare students for the new school year, along with enrichment activities and a credit recovery program (at the high school level).
Project Success Director Kimberly David says through a Teen REACH grant they were able to purchase 80 tablets for students to borrow if needed to participate in summer programs. Efforts are underway to try to obtain devices for the 21st Century Community Learning Center programs, too.
And at least three virtual family programs are planned this summer in an effort to provide fun activities which will allow families from various schools across the county to connect.
