Danville Police say it is unknown whether multiple shootings which occurred Sunday night and early this morning (Monday, June 15, 2020) are related. Five people suffered gunshot wounds and one of them was hospitalized in serious condition after being shot in the head.
Police say that 24-year-old Danville man was found lying on the ground in the 1600 block of Edgewood Drive shortly around 1:15 this morning after officers responded there on a report of shots fired.
Earlier…shortly before 11:00 p.m. Sunday…police had responded to a residence in the 900 block of Giddings Street where they found a 25-year-old Danville man had been shot in a shoulder. The man said he was inside his home when he heard shots and then felt one of them hit his shoulder. The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening wound.
In still another incident shortly before 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Danville Police responded to multiple calls of shots fired in the area of the 900 block of Koehn Drive. Officers learned that a party was underway when someone started shooting in the direction of the party. Police learned two people had been transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds. One is a 41-year-old Danville man who was shot in a leg. The other is a 49-year-old Danville man who was shot in the back. Neither suffered wounds that were considered life-threatening.
It was while officers were investigating the shootings on Koehn Drive that they heard several shots fired west of their location. Upon investigating they found a 19-year-old Danville man who had been shot in a leg. The victim said he was walking in the 900 block of Fowler Street when an unknown car drove past him and someone fired several shots from the vehicle. The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment of his wound which was also described by police as non-life threatening.
