A free concert featuring Doc Ashton and the Root Canals is among activities taking place around Vermilion County this weekend. Ashton says they plan to play some ‘’cool jazz’’ during the concert that begins at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27th, at the outdoor bandstand at Danville’s Lincoln Park. And Ashton added a special guest – Danville Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. — plans to sing during a portion of the concert.
It is all weather permitting. Showers and thunderstorms are expected and Ashton says the band will not play during thunderstorms. But he hopes the weather will cooperate.
Other activities around Vermilion County this weekend include:
- Danville American Legion Post 210 is hosting a Family Frenzy fun night at the post at 201 Prospect Place in Danville on Saturday (June 27th). Activities begin at 2:00 p.m. with outdoor activities for the whole family. The band Zach Dable Experience is scheduled to play from 5 until 7 p.m., followed by Alex Jenkins and the Bombers from 7 until 9 p.m.
- Miniature golf, batting cages and laser tag will be available this weekend at Illini Skateland.
- Gao Grotto will be serving cheeseburgers, chicken strips and grilled pork tenderloin from 5:00 until 7:30 p.m. today (Friday) at the Grotto at 2400 Denmark Road. Meals are for sale to the public for $8 each.
- Danville Farmer’s Market at Crossroads Church is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday, June 27th, 2020. (Please wear masks and maintain social distancing rules.)
- DLO Musical Theatre Open House for the new ‘’Backstage’’ is scheduled Saturday, June 27th, from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. It is at the DLO’s new location at 141 North Walnut Street in downtown Danville. It is the new box office and rehearsal hall for the DLO productions. (Only 10 people at a time will be allowed to participate in tours and face coverings must be worn.)
