A Danville man has a new ramp outside his home, thanks to members of the Vermilion County Handicapped Association. A crew of about 15 volunteers participated in building the ramp Sunday at a home on Danville’s south side.
Kip Sullivan, president of the Association, says it is a labor of love…

Sullivan explained where they get the money to do it….
Audio Player{‘’Well, donations – but we usually raffle-off a Harley every year. We have a Harley raffle, but it’s been cancelled this year just because of all the stuff that’s been going on. So, we could use some donations – that’s for sure,’’ said Sullivan.}

Sullivan adds the Vermilion County Handicapped Association has been building the ramps for about twenty-five years…
Audio Player{‘’I think this is number 368. We usually average about fifteen a year or so – it kind of all depends on the weather and stuff, of course. We only build it when its during the summer months – kind of. We’ll build up until maybe November – if it’s still decent out,’’ said Sullivan. ‘’We usually start around April or May. But we didn’t start until June this year because of all the other stuff that’s going on.}
If someone wants a ramp, Sullivan says you should call 217-662-6331 and request an application. Currently there are about a dozen on a waiting list…but Sullivan says they will eventually get built.
