Details have been released about two local police chases which both ended with the vehicle being pursued crashing. The first involved a vehicle which Danville Police and officers from the U.S. Marshal Task Force were chasing on Friday, June 26, 2020.
Danville Police reports say the vehicle being driven by Simmeon T. Hall of Rock Island, Illinois failed to negotiate the roundabout intersection at Jackson and English Streets Friday afternoon. Police say the driver lost control because of speed, plus both passenger side tires of the unit being pursued had been ‘spiked’ by police. The driver and a male passenger fled from the vehicle after it wrecked over a curb in a crosswalk area, but they were apprehended nearby.

The other chase involved Tilton Police who were chasing a vehicle around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, June 27th, in the Grape Creek area. Police reports say the driver, Darin Duitsman of Danville, was attempting to evade officers at a high rate of speed. The car that was being pursued attempted to turn off Grape Creek Road onto Twin Hills Road when the driver lost control and the vehicle hit several small trees and shrubs.
