Danville District 118 School Board members have voted to switch Northeast Elementary Magnet School to the traditional school calendar for the upcoming school year only. The school normally operates on a balanced calendar…but for the 2020-2021 school year will operate on the same schedule as other District 118 schools. The change was made because of developments involving the state’s COVID 19 rules.
The board also voted 5-2 to allow behind-the-wheel driver’s education classes to resume. School board member Dr. Randle Ashton noted some other districts are already holding the classes in Vermilion County. Those participating must follow certain guidelines because of COVID-19 concerns – including the signing of a waiver and having their temperatures checked.
Board members also approved waiving fees for the 2020-2021 school year because of the fact that some families are struggling financially due to the pandemic.
Danville School Board members also agreed to purchase 45 days worth of disposable masks for students at a cost not to exceed $107-thousand dollars.
