25-year-old Vincent Beard is being held at the Public Safety Building on charges of aggravated kidnapping, armed robbery, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and aggravated battery.
Danville Police commander Josh Webb said officers responded to the intersection of Avenue B and Main Street in Vermilion Heights around 7 p.m. Wednesday. A 21-year-old woman from Cissna Park was seen with bruises to her face. The woman told police that Beard is her ex-boyfriend, and when she arrived home she found he had broken into her home and was waiting for her outside.
She told officers Beard forced her to drive to Danville, and then punched her in the head and face multiple times and threatened her with a handgun. Officers found a handgun inside the vehicle.
