Residents of the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville got to enjoy an early 4th of July celebration Thursday morning as the VA facility hosted an antique car cruise through its campus.
According to Melissa Spady, the public affairs officer for the VA, the event was organized after several area communities canceled their 4th of July celebrations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We recognize that these are challenging times, and many of our events, like others, have been postponed or canceled. We came together to think outside of the box, and we knew that everyone loves vintage cars, and being that it’s the Fourth of July, it’s a very patriotic time.”
The car parade featured vintage automobiles to fancy cars of today, all flying American flags and other patriotic-themed regalia.
