Residents of Danville’s Liberty Village retirement community will be able to hear a special patriotic-themed performance Thursday afternoon as singer Colette Hawley will sing songs for the older residents who have mostly been kept isolated since the pandemic began.
Hawley told our newsroom Wednesday morning that she has made it her mission to sing to residents of assisted living facilities and nursing homes during the pandemic.
The Chicago resident gained international attention in May when she rented a cherry picker truck and performed a Memorial Day concert. She has since been featured on TMZ and CNN’s Cuomo Primetime.
Hawley says her concert, which will take place in the courtyard of the facility, will celebrate America.
With many elderly people forced to stay inside their homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, Hawley says it is important for them to know other people care about their situations.
Hawley’s concert will take place at 2:00 Thursday afternoon in the courtyard of Liberty Village of Danville.
