The Danville City Council’s Public Works Committee approved proposals for the Carle medical campus project last night.
Committee members approved right-of-way easements for the Gilbert and Madison street intersection, while also approving the acquisition of a property at 513 W. Madison St. where a house burned to the ground last year.
City Engineer Sam Cole said Carle will be paying for all of the project as well as the money paid to property owners. The only thing the city paid for was the appraisals of the properties, which he said Carle will be reimbursing the city eventually.
Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. said the current properties will make way for a realignment of the Gilbert and Madison intersection, where a traffic signal will be placed.
Carle is paying about $45,000 for land acquisitions.
