While many school districts in Vermilion County are planning a mix of in-person and remote learning, Georgetown-Ridge Farm students will only learn online.
The district’s school board voted Monday night to impose remote learning for the 2020-21 school year.
School officials released a remote learning plan today. Students will still register in person August 3-7.
Students in kindergarten through third grade will learn through the Seesaw platform, with the older students learning through Google Classroom. Unlike at the end of last school year, this year’s online assignments will be graded.
Teachers will still be at school during school days to answer students’ questions. Parents can contact the school and staff members throughout the day unless they are busy teaching online classes.
As a means of providing equal access, Georgetown-Ridge Farm is providing Chromebooks for each student. Families can pay an annual fee for three years and then own the Chromebook, or they can pay a yearly rental fee.
The first day in the Georgetown-Ridge Farm school district is Friday, August 21. District officials will reassess the remote learning plan on Tuesday, September 15.
