A previous version of this article did not mention that the old $100 fee was a monthly fee. We apologize for any confusion this might have caused.
Danville City Council members have approved changes to the city’s food-truck regulations.
Mayor Rickey Williams Jr. said the changes would save food vendors money, as the licensing fee would only be $600 per year as opposed to the $100 monthly fee food truck operators were paying before. He also said it would allow vendors to operate in a wider area instead of being limited to just areas around downtown Danville.
The code states that operators are allowed to run food trucks anytime between 6 a.m. and 2 a.m. each day. Williams also said the regulations now require a food permit, which he said has been the city’s practice for a while, and he also said it would reduce the possibility of fraud.
Alderman also approved changes to the city’s fire code pertaining to fireworks displays. The new changes require anyone wishing to put on a fireworks display to register ahead of time with the city and pay an inspection fee.
