The Eastern Illinois Foodbank has announced plans for another distribution of free food for area families struggling with food insecurity. The drive-through distribution will held at the Danville Township Food Pantry at 18 Southgate Drive in Tilton on Tuesday, August 18th. Clients will remain in their vehicle as boxes of food are loaded into their vehicle by volunteers between 9:00 and 11:30 a.m. that day.
Those citizens who are receiving the food are asked to have a space cleared in their back seat or trunk prior to arriving at the distribution site.
Although the distribution will be in Tilton, anyone in need of food is welcome to attend the event. But if you are planning to participate you are asked to pre-register at www.EIFclient.com. The distribution will include one or a combination of the following pre-packaged boxes: mixed box of produce and mixed box of dairy items.
The distribution is part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Coronavirus Food Assistance Program. The program is designed to keep workers in the food industry employed while providing people in need with access to food.
The Eastern Illinois Foodbank works to alleviate hunger in eastern Illinois through cooperation with a network of food pantries, agencies and programs.
